Dr Brian Solts
PSYCHOTHERAPY IN BRIGHTON

Dr Brian Solts BA (Hons), PGDip Group Analytic Psychotherapy, DClinPsych
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 1995 and have been employed within the NHS since that time. I was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the NHS in 2003. My practice draws on a range of different psychological theories to help in our understanding of why people present with psychological problems. I am particularly interested in group work, and how the establishment of a safe and contained group setting can be an ideal way to work through social and psychological difficulties that can impair the way we communicate in everyday life.
Within the NHS, I work with adults presenting with a range of problems, from general anxiety and depression through to more debilitating mental health conditions. I have worked in many different NHS settings, including inpatient and a Therapeutic Community, and have also worked in medical settings with people who are HIV positive, with people who have experienced sexual health problems and with men and women who have been sexually assaulted.
My professional services include:
- Individual assessment and detailed psychological formulation of presenting issues
- Brief psychological interventions
- Focused psychodyamic psychotherapy
- Longer term Group Analytic Psychotherapy
In addition, I also provide:
- Supervision and consultation services for qualified psychologists and psychotherapists
- Teaching and training
Over the course of my career, I have worked within University settings, and have contributed to the professional development of others through my experience of teaching, research and supervising the practice of others.
Professionally, I am a member of the British Psychological Society (70234) and the Institute of Group Analysis and my professional practice is regulated by the Health Professions Council(PYL21151)
