Dr Brian Solts BA (Oxon), DClinPsych, AFBPsS, MInstGABrian Solts

Having trained as a clinical psychologist and group analytic psychotherapist within the NHS, I have mainly worked with individuals, couples and groups over the age of 18.   I see human relationships and social relatedness as central to mental health and wellbeing.  My therapeutic practice is informed by ‘relational models’ such as attachment theory, group analytic and psychodynamic theories, in the context of a person’s unique upbringing, their sociocultural & spiritual background, and their development through life.

I offer initial psychological assessments and consultations to help someone understand their presenting difficulties.  I would think with them about the type of therapy that might help most, for instance psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), IPT (interpersonal psychotherapy) or systemic work for couples.  We would develop a psychological formulation based on how we come to understand the best way forward.

I worked in the NHS for 33 years within adult mental health community mental health teams, psychiatric inpatient and specialist services, as well as acute medical hospitals and sexual health services for people affected by HIV/AIDS.  I was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in 2004, leading andmanaging services, and supervising others in their work.
